How to Verify a Florida Mover's License

Use two official checks depending on your route: FDACS registration for a move entirely within Florida, and FMCSA records for a move crossing state lines. Match the legal company name on the quote to the public record before paying a deposit.

Florida Movers Direct is not a moving company. We connect you with independent licensed movers. You can verify any mover yourself: look up the USDOT number in the FMCSA SAFER database for interstate moves, or search the FDACS business registry for household moving services inside Florida.

Identify the actual carrier

Ask whether the business is the carrier performing the move or a broker arranging it. Get the legal name, address, registration numbers and the name of any subcontracted carrier. A trading name can differ from the registered name; ask for an explanation in writing.

Keep the quote, lookup results and contract in the same moving folder. A record belonging to a similarly named company does not verify the business contacting you.

Moves within Florida: FDACS registration

A Tampa-to-Orlando move stays within Florida. Start with official FDACS moving-company guidance and its business lookup. Search the legal name or IM registration number.

  • Match the name, address and registration number to your estimate.
  • Check current registration status and save the result with its date.
  • Ask for insurance documents and coverage for your belongings.
  • Get a written estimate including access charges, packing, travel and cancellation terms.

Our Florida local-moving rate guide explains what a local quote should include. Registration is not a promise of price or performance.

Interstate moves: FMCSA authority and insurance

Match the company in SAFER

Search the USDOT number in the FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot. Confirm the legal name, address and operating status; do not rely only on a screenshot sent by the salesperson.

Check Licensing and Insurance

Use FMCSA Licensing and Insurance for applicable household-goods authority and insurance filings. A USDOT number alone does not establish authority.

Read FMCSA Protect Your Move resources and request the federal rights booklet from your interstate mover. Our long-distance quote and delivery guide covers inventory surveys and estimates.

If records do not match

Pause booking and ask for clarification. Do not pay because someone says the registration belongs to an affiliate or is being renewed. Check the official source again, and follow the responsible regulator's complaint instructions if you suspect deception.

Florida mover verification: questions

For a move entirely within Florida, search the FDACS business lookup for the legal name or IM registration number. For a move across state lines, check FMCSA records for the USDOT number and applicable operating authority.
